Consultation privacy and confidentiality

Your Healthcare Bestie treats what you share in a consultation as private and follows social work ethical guidelines around privacy and confidentiality. Your Healthcare Bestie does not share consultation information without your permission, except in limited situations such as when there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, when there is a legal duty to report abuse or neglect, or when disclosure is legally required. What must be disclosed depends on the circumstances and applicable law.

Website forms and ordinary email are not the right place for medical records or detailed sensitive information. Please share only what is needed to arrange a conversation. This website and its consultations are for practical guidance and support; they are not emergency services. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

Information collected

The contact form may collect your name, email, the kind of help you are requesting, phone or Zoom preference, time zone, state, preferred dates and times, and optional phone number. It asks visitors to leave out medical records and other sensitive details. If you contact Your Healthcare Bestie or take part in a consultation, Your Healthcare Bestie may receive information you choose to provide. The newsletter signup collects your email address.

Squarespace hosts this website and processes information submitted through its site features. The site may also collect basic technical information such as browser, device, and page-use data. Contact-form submissions are stored in Squarespace Contacts/Form Submitters, with notifications sent to contact@yourhealthcarebestie.com. Newsletter subscriptions are stored in a Squarespace mailing list with email confirmation enabled. The form and newsletter signup use reCAPTCHA. Squarespace Analytics activity logging is enabled. Our cookie banner lets you accept, decline, or manage non-essential cookies. Necessary cookies remain available to support site functions. You can revisit your choices through Cookie Preferences.

How information is used

Your Healthcare Bestie uses information to answer questions, coordinate requested consultations, send the weekly email to subscribers, maintain business records, protect the website, and meet legal obligations. Your Healthcare Bestie does not use sensitive consultation information to target advertising. Newsletter recipients can unsubscribe using the link in any email.

Service providers and links

Some information is processed by services that help run the website or deliver a feature you choose. Your Healthcare Bestie uses Google Workspace for business email and coordinates scheduling by email. Consultations are available by phone or Zoom; FaceTime may be used when convenient for the customer. These providers may process information needed to deliver the communication service. Consultation payments are collected through Squarespace Payments using Squarespace checkout. Those services handle information under their own terms and privacy notices. This site may link to other websites; their privacy practices are separate.

Information retention

Consultation inquiries that do not lead to a consultation are retained for 12 months after the last contact, unless longer retention is required by law or needed to resolve an outstanding matter.

Your choices and questions

You can ask to update or delete information by emailing contact@yourhealthcarebestie.com. Some records may need to be kept to provide a service, resolve a dispute, or meet legal requirements. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
